Find My Kangaroo does not track real kangaroos. The Service uses a static database of locations where kangaroos are known to live or be kept, including wild habitats across Australia, zoos, and wildlife sanctuaries around the world. Kangaroos are free-roaming animals (even the wild ones tend to move around), so their actual presence at any listed location at any given time cannot be guaranteed.
Distances are calculated using the Haversine formula, which measures straight-line ("as the crow flies") distance between two points on Earth. Actual travel distances will be longer due to roads, terrain, oceans, borders, visa requirements, and other real-world obstacles that exist between you and your nearest kangaroo.
Our kangaroo location database is curated but not exhaustive. There may be zoos, sanctuaries, or wild populations that are not included. If you know of a kangaroo location we've missed, we'd love to hear about it.
The Service does not constitute wildlife guidance, travel advice, veterinary counsel, or any other form of professional recommendation. If you are planning to visit kangaroos, please:
This Service is built for fun. It was inspired by a YouTuber in the middle of Sydney Harbour who just wanted to see a kangaroo, and by an Australian Embassy that understands the power of a well-placed marsupial. We hope it brings you a smile and maybe, eventually, a kangaroo encounter.
